In September 2007 we successfully secured status as a Specialist School in Special Educational Needs (SEN). Our specialism is ‘Cognition and Learning’ and the extra funding this has provided has allowed us to begin many exciting developments and projects to benefit both the pupils at Brookfields School as well as our local community.

To support this initiative and to enhance the pupils opportunities we have put in to place a range of resources – we have a brand new state-of-the-art drama studio; a specialist literacy assistant to develop pupils reading skills; a woodwork technician to work along side pupils to assist them with Brookfields Enterprise Education; an aromatherapist and masseur for pupils with complex needs; a specialist numeracy assistant to enhance the teaching of maths and numeracy skills.

Brookfields School is proud to be connected with a range of community partners who actively support the work we undertake through this initiative. A large part of our work is to offer our services and expertise in the area of SEN to all of our partner schools. We offer a wide range of training courses and consultancy in many areas of SEN such as raising disability awareness in local businesses and schools.
