National Shakespeare Festivals for Schools

The pupils performing at the Norden Theatre

Mrs Boardman's & Mr Quinnell's classes took part in the National Shakespeare Festivals for Schools which is held annually. A range of schools participate in this Festival which culminates in each school performing a Shakespearian play on a professional stage in front of an audience.

Last year, a group of pupils performed Hamlet. This year, Ms Snowdon and her team devised and adapted a version of The Merchant of Venice. Since the beginning of the Autumn term, the group have work very hard at learning the piece which culminated in a performance for one night on a professional stage at Norden Farm Centre for the Arts in Maidenhead. There was a packed audience, not only made up of friends and families of the Brookfields pupils, but also from the 3 mainstream schools who were also performing.  The pupils’ performances were outstanding with many parents from other schools complementing them on their acting.  It was a fantastic achievement for all our pupils and there were many proud parents!

Watch out for next year’s performance!
