Brookfields School achieves Ambassador status!

The schools Eco Team

Yet again, we are so proud of our pupils as we have just learnt that Brookfields School has been awarded the ‘Green Flag Ambassadors Status’ by Eco Schools. Well done and a big thank you to everyone involved with the  Eco Schools inspection which took place on Thursday 19th May 2011.

The hard work and commitment to making Brookfields a sustainable school has been driven forward by Colin Esrich (Science teacher) and Wendy Shaw Science (Specialist Support Assistant).

Ambassador schools are the programme’s shining success stories and undertake the practical role of sharing best practice with other schools nationally and in their area. They embody the ideal of what a green school should look and feel like and have impressed experts who view them as a world-class example of a sustainable school.

This is the highest award available and reflects our continuing commitment to sustainability at school and our work as ambassadors to help other schools become Eco schools.

Many of the pupils were involved with the inspection on the 19th May by meeting and greeting the inspector, giving her a tour of our eco projects around the school and chatting to the inspector about all our work with other schools. The inspector was very impressed with the pupils’ enthusiasm, commitment and knowledge.

We have received a lovely shiny plaque which will be displayed in our reception area and a new green flag for our flagpole. Our thanks also go to all the staff for their continuing commitment and support for all the ‘Green projects’ around school and to all the staff who helped on the day of the inspection.

Well done everybody!!
