Brookfields School is one of only two schools in West Berkshire who have been award the national accreditation of Investors in Families. This award recognises those schools that work actively with families at the highest standard to achieve the five Every Child Matters outcomes.

The philosophy and aims of Investors in Families is aligned to those that Brookfields School has, namely:

·        To value and support the role that families play in the life of the child
·        To support families in developing and raising their child’s achievement and self-esteem
·        To promote and embrace social inclusion and sense of well-being through positive participation in family life

Parents, pupil, governors and staff all commented on the school being accessible, friendly and supportive. Parent interviews suggested that staff go the extra mile in providing support, advice and a listening ear as well as training programmes and workshops. Provision of a Family Support Worker and the Autism and Behaviour Support Unit provide additional parent and family support. Parents are involved in providing weekly coffee mornings within the school; this format provides an opportunity for the parent’s voice to be heard on a regular basis.

Brookfields School is committed to family support in relation to the provision of:   

   
·     Holistic approaches to parenting course including transport and child care and on line inset – for busy parents.   (crèche/transport offered for all courses for parents) Weekly parenting course.
·        Commitment consultation with parents re: curriculum and extra curricular provision and developments
·        Consultation to parents re resources i.e. toy library
·        Pupil’s consultation in relation to their annual reviews and their target setting.
