I am delighted that Brookfields has been included in the latest list of outstanding providers published by Her Majesty’s Chief Inspector of Schools. This is a tremendous achievement given that this is the second time Brookfields has appeared in the list. We are one of only two West Berkshire schools who were identified as outstanding providers in 2007 – 2008.
As part of our Specialist School Status we were given a sum of money by the government to develop provision in the secondary part of the school. A substantial part of the money received has been used to create a specialist drama studio. The work on this project is now complete and the pupils are enjoying using what is an excellent facility. Hopefully, in the New Year we will organise an official opening of the studio.
This term we said good-bye to two of our longer serving governors – Stephen Burt and Kevin Parsons. They have been tremendous supporters of the school in recent years and their input will be missed greatly. I have very much appreciated their efforts on behalf of the school and I would like to take this opportunity to thank them for their commitment during their time as governors. At the end of this term we also say good-bye to Sonya Harry, a specialist support assistant in Post 16. She too will be missed as will her efforts on behalf of the students she has worked with. However, she is moving on in her career and I wish her every success for the future.
Mrs Jenny Ball, Key Stage 2, is going on maternity leave. I hope all goes well and she enjoys the rest!!! All that remains is for me to wish you a happy, safe and relaxing break. I look forward to welcoming all the pupils back to school on January 5th.
