Brookfields launches national project with RNIB, NAS and Sunfield School
One of our Community Partnerships is with The National Autistic Society, RNIB and Sunfield School. Over the last 3 years this partnership has been working together on a joint project which has investigating and identifying good and outstanding practice in the teaching of pupils with Autism and a Visual Impairment. This work has spanned Great Britain and we are all very excited about the national impact that this work will have.
The work of this group will be launched at a national conference in London on Thursday 18th and Friday 19th of November 2010.
Jane Headland (Head Teacher) and Catherine Bernie (lead for Autism and Behavioural Support Service) represent Brookfields School on this team and will be at the conference to describe the project and focusing on the findings which will in the production of introduce the Project Resource Pack.
This major national event will be of interest to all professionals working with blind and partially sighted young people who have autism and also to parents and other family members. The conference and Project Resource Pack will be of relevance to a wide range of practitioners, including teachers, teaching assistants, therapists, psychologists, mobility officers, care workers and doctors. It will also be of interest to those carrying out research in visual impairment and in autism and in the relationship between them.
