• Works with families to provide practical and emotional support for parents
• Provides support at times to suit families
• Is available to accompany families attending appointments at hospitals and clinics
• Can provide transport to appointments
• Can give advice and practical support with behaviour programmes at home, such as bedtime routines
• Offers information on the availability of resources to meet the needs of each child, such as special clothing and out-of-school activities
• Can refer to more appropriate professional services if needed
• Works with members of school staff and parents to provide individual programmes that can be used both at home and in school
