We welcome and encourage visits to the school from parents and professionals who are considering Brookfields School as a possible school for their child.

When you come to visit the school you will meet with a senior member of the leadership team to learn more about the school and the work that we do with pupils and their families. It will be an opportunity for you to ask questions about the school and to spend time looking around, meeting some of the staff as well as the pupils.

After your initial visit you may choose to come back again, which you are more than welcome to do.

If you felt that Brookfields School could meet your child’s needs, you will then have to let your Local Authority know that this is your decision. This is usually done through the Annual Review process or, in some situations, you can discuss this directly with the Local Authority. All parents have a choice in the school that they would like their child to attend.

Before a child is able to come to Brookfields School the Local Authority will have to agree that we are the correct school for them. After this has been agreed, the Local Authority will then formally write to us asking for a place. This letter will be accompanied by your child’s Statement and any other supporting documents.

Our team here will look very carefully at your child’s Statement to make certain that we are able to offer all that is on the Statement. It is very important to us that we are able to meet the needs of the pupils who are referred to us and so we will also consider whether we have an appropriate peer group for your child.

If our team do consider that we will be able to meet your child’s needs, that we have the right peer group for them and that we have a place in that peer group, we will then write to the Local Authority offering a place.

Take a look at West Berkshire's comprehensive SEN home page for further details of admissons to Brookfields School.
